This reflection on centralization vs decentralization got me thinking about meaning. Centralization tends to flatten meaning into a single, shared narrative: efficient, scalable, legible, but often hollow. Decentralization multiplies meanings. It’s messy, contradictory, sometimes incoherent, but also alive, adaptive, and capable of surfacing truths the center can’t hold. The tension isn’t only creativity versus convenience. It’s shared meaning versus fragmented meaning. Centralization stabilizes meaning enough to coordinate, decentralization keeps it diverse enough to stay real.
